Okay, break's over...

After a long hiatus, I'm back to blogging. I've updated my sidebar with new Bloggernacle links and an updated RPT Blog Club list. I've got a bunch of half-finished draft posts, so hopefully things will be back to normal -- well, as normal as I get, anyway...

  1. And here I was worried that God had struck you down for questioning his omnipotence...

  3. Interesting reworking of the Mark passage. Joseph certainly had an active interest in formal disciplinary actions, didn't he?

As to the "arm of flesh," I'm inclined to read it in an OT context, as when Isaiah counseled Hezekiah to stand fast against the invading Assyrians. Contrast that with Josiah, who while faithful nevertheless rode out to meet the Egyptians transiting Palestine and was slain on the field. In that OT context, the alternatives to trusting in God were trusting in foreign gods, trusting in one's own strength of arms, or both.
